Embedding a data analytics capability to allow the use of smart meters as distribution network monitors
Heriot-Watt University's School of Engineering and Physical Sciences and SP Power Systems Limited, the electricity transmission and distribution network are now working together through a new KTP project to embed a data analytics capability to allow the use of smart meters as distribution network monitors to give visibility of network constraints and support smart grid decisions.
The project with SP Power Systems is led by Dr Valentin Robu who is also involved in another recent KTP project brokered by the Energy Academy with Upside Energy that aims to develop a machine learning architecture and embedded capability to enable Upside Energy to continuously evolve its ensemble of algorithms for grid prediction and demand response portfolio management.
