Policy-UK Forum

Following the launch of the Digital Infrastructure Fund and in the context of the Government’s Digital Strategy, this event will bring together key stakeholders and policymakers to discuss and debate the challenges and opportunities for the development and deployment of smart city technologies across the UK.

Attendees will analyse how technology and data are being used to enhance economic development, sustainability and quality of life for citizens and share insights and priorities on developing a policy framework which supports investment, innovation and growth.

Changing the Way Cities Work: Developing a Coherent Smart Cities Policy Framework
Attendees will examine the latest developments in smart city policy at national and local level, priorities for developing a joined up and strategic approach, bringing together government, local authorities, academia and industry, for a future smart city framework and discuss and debate future funding and investment requirements.

Developing the Next Gen Infrastructure and Building the UK’s Smart City Capabilities
Discussion will focus on the need to develop the UK’s digital infrastructure to support the development and deployment of smart city technology, leveraging the Government’s Digital and Industrial strategies to support the UK’s smart city sector and ensuring support for areas which face particular barriers to adoption – including infrastructure, skills and funding.

Making the UK a Global Hub for Smart City Technologies
Time will also be allocated to examine opportunities for UK businesses overseas as the global smart cities market grows, and how the UK can establish itself as a global hub for smart city skills, knowledge and technology in a global market set to be worth $400 billion by 2020.
