You are invited to a workshop on Scottish policy for energy efficiency and buildings on 26 June, starting with lunch at 12:30 and finishing at 17:00, Edinburgh Centre for Carbon Innovation (ECCI).

The link to register is available here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/scottish-policy-for-energy-efficiency-and-buildings-workshop-tickets-46290346673

The workshop is hosted by ClimateXChange and the Universities of Edinburgh and Strathclyde. Researchers from Strathclyde’s Centre for Energy Policy and Edinburgh’s Heat and the City team will present recent work on the impacts of energy efficiency interventions in Scotland. We will also hear perspectives on the developing policy framework and its implementation from Scottish Government, Atkins, Carbon Trust, and the Energy Saving Trust.

By bringing together policy makers, researchers and practitioners, the workshop is an opportunity to:
•take stock of progress on energy efficiency policy in Scotland
•consider lessons learned for next steps with the Energy Efficient Scotland (EES) Programme.

Andrew Robinson, head of the Home Energy Efficiency Programmes for Scotland Area Based Schemes (HEEPS:ABS) at the Scottish Government will provide an introduction to the Energy Efficient Scotland programme.
Karen Turner from the University of Strathclyde will introduce the Centre for Energy Policy's research on the potential wider economic impact of the Energy Efficient Scotland programme, and reflect on the potential for growth in GDP and jobs. Elaine Waterson, Devolved Administration Strategy Manager at the Energy Saving Trust, will present valuable learning on the Energy Efficient Scotland policy landscape, the role of evaluation and monitoring, and how monitoring can be used to measure carbon and cost savings.
In addition, Sarah-Jane Stewart, Global Head of Sustainability at Atkins, will be discussing the proposals for Local Heat and Energy Efficiency Strategies at a local authority level in Scotland, and Tanja Groth from the Carbon Trust will discuss the socio-economic approaches used for these. Faye Wade and Jan Webb from the University of Edinburgh Heat and the City team will present their research on the evaluation of the Energy Efficient Scotland programme pilots. They will discuss the challenges of making policy, and managing the complex area-based retrofit of buildings, given the variety of stakeholders recruited into this process.

The workshop is an opportunity to engage in this crucial area of energy policy, reflect on how lessons can be more widely shared and identify the next steps for research and policy making in this area.
