Partnerships that Drive Innovation

Build better partnerships. Win more funding. Deliver Innovation

Innovative products, services and business models often come from Innovative partnerships. But what defines those partnerships that can turn invention into reality and then into income? They need a great idea, but they need more than that. Technology can enable new products or services but their commercial success or failure depends on demand. Innovation is a process rather than a eureka moment and innovative partnerships are those that are able to capture the innovation process and provide foresight to future market possibilities – they can see the demand, or lack of it. By chance or design, these partnerships seem to follow what is known as ‘design process methodologies’.

Innovate UK recognise the importance of design process in driving innovation. They estimate £1 design leads to £20 extra revenue. This isn’t about styling or aesthetics. It’s a methodology that can be applied to create better products, better funding applications and more revenue.

This workshop will enable attendees to build better partnerships that are able to win Innovate UK funding.

At the workshop we will explore design process theory, practical application of design theory and how to embed this within a partnership. Companies and academics will hear from thought leaders on design process, innovation funders and case studies of companies who have benefited from adopting design process into their innovation. Attendees will be given clear next steps in how they can adopt design process into their innovation/R&D plans and grant applications.

This workshop is aimed at companies across all technology sectors who want to innovate more productively and who want to build partnerships that yield more. The workshop will also appeal to academics who want to build partnerships with industry that will effectively translate their inventions to the market. This workshop will have broad applicability but will be orientated towards Innovate UK funding.
