Genomics & Precision Medicine is an emerging model of healthcare where the genetic makeup of a person or organism, and its interaction with the environment, is incorporated towards enabling better prevention, precise diagnosis and tailored treatment and management of a disease/condition. This symposium will invite open discussions and potential investment to encourage the creation of UK-Gulf research linkages to access the deep pool of information & technology sharing, which will catalyse new clinical and commercial benefits to populations in the GCC and the UK, adding to the fundamental knowledge needed to build an effective healthcare system where early screening, early diagnosis and effective management can significantly reduce morbidity and mortality rates. We encourage early-career scientific researchers to present their stimulating research and ideas for knowledge transfer related to Genomics and Precision Medicine.

Funding for researchers to participate in a UK-Guf research symposium on Genomics & Precision Medicine.
•Location: King Saud University in Riyadh
•Date: 15-16 February 2017
•Countries participating: Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman, UK
•Deadline for applications: 20 December

Eligibility criteria

•Applicants must be based at a recognised publicly funded research establishments or Higher Education Institutions (can include private universities)
•Researcher must be working in one of the relevant academic disciplines
•Researchers must fall into one of these three career bands:
1.Early career researchers (with a minimum of 2 year experience in an institution post award of their PhD)
2.Lecturer post (with a minimum of 3 - 5 year experience in an institution post award of their PhD)
3.Senior Lecturer/Professor (with a minimum of 6 years’ experience in an institution post award of their PhD)
